Abstract

The Romany communities in Slovakia are described as communities with bad health condition and insufficient prevention against diseases and affections. These factors are already outworn problems for major population. With the aim to change non-complimentary health condition of Romany minority and raise their living standard, in Košice were  formed associations and organizations which begun to develop various activities among Romanies between two World Wars. „Association for study and solution of Romany question“ organized vaccinating and check-ups in local Romany communities, but activities of the members of association gradually expanded in the field of education and culture too. Another local organization, cultural and social association of Gypsies in Slovakia, named Lavutarisz, organized charitable, cultural and consulting activities for Romany families. The real unique organization among the contemporary associations focused to help and support Romanies was sports club of Slovak Gypsies named Roma Košice which was formed by Romany football-players and musicians.
