Abstract

Intercultural communication is a relatively new discipline among social sciences in Slovakia, though in many countries it has been studied for more than four decades. Its importance has risen along with global changes that has affected our society, however, as we presented, the Slovak are seen as rather intolerant towards other (different) cultures and have problems with adjustment to a life in a multicultural society. Therefore, there is a need for an intercultural research and application of its theories as well as for wider opportunities for Slovak students to study it.
