Abstract

The paper is pointing to Indian origin of Roma, their language and caste system, which is sufficently proved by realised research. Two types of names given by outsiders (exoetnonymes) are existing in different languages. There are variations of name "Cigani" and Egyptians (Gypsies). Migration of Roma coming from several Indian communities and in separate groups (also disparate in time and geographical origin) into Europe has its expression also in their own naming (endoethonyme) - Roma, Manuscha, Kale, Sinti, Gitanos, Romanichel, Kaale.
